Respite Care in Leesburg
A break, so you can keep going.
We Reflect What You See.
Respite care is short term relief for the person doing the caring. Somebody trained comes and takes over for a while, so you can sleep, work a shift, go to an appointment, see your other children, or simply sit down.
Families sometimes feel they should not need it. You should. Caring for an adult with a disability around the clock is a job that nobody gets a day off from, and burnout helps nobody, least of all the person you are caring for.
What it looks like
- A few hours, a full day, or longer, depending on what your plan allows
- In your own home, or out in the community doing something your loved one enjoys
- With staff who are trained, background screened, and introduced to your family before they start
- Regular and planned, or occasional when you need it
Who it is for
Adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, autism, and physical disabilities, and the parents, spouses, siblings and guardians caring for them. If you are a caregiver in your sixties or older and have been doing this alone for years, respite is often the first thing we set up.
Where we serve
Mirrah Image Services supports families across Lake, Orange, Sumter and Marion counties, including Leesburg, Eustis, Tavares, Mount Dora, Fruitland Park and the surrounding towns.
How it is paid for
This is a Florida Medicaid Waiver service, funded through the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. If your loved one is not on the waiver yet, start with our plain words guide to the APD waiting list, or come to our free application class. If you do not qualify for the waiver and paying privately is a genuine hardship, ask us about hardship assistance.
